September 2006

Here are some pics of the boys at the Goaty on Sunday, track iss shaping up nicely but needs some serious cutting in to get it nice and fast. Mik and his chain gang where going to make a line change at the nipple to give it a more flowy run into the first berm but after that I think it is ready to go just a little bunting and let the runs begin.

Matt Missed Little Benny Heaps!

While Lairdette is of in Vegas doing what he does best, his rugged shuttle bus has copped a flogging from a big old gum tree, apparently two randy Dwelli possums were doing their thing and things got a little out of control and they broke a branch and it landed smack bang on the red rig ouch! 3 things were damaged the mighty V10 the tailgate and most importantly a carton of King Browns!! priceless!

Perth Mountain Bike Club will be holding the Cyclemaina North Perth Cross Country State Championships and the Hi-Way Cycles Downhill State Championships on the 8th October at the “Goat Farm”, Greenmount.

The Goat Farm has been given a face lift recently, turning it from an underground freeriding area, to a legitimate mountain bike park. This has been made possible through grants from Lotteries West, Department of Sport and Recreation and CALM.

The State Championships will consist of both Cross Country and Downhill events being staged on the same day, something which has been rarely done in WA but will have the ability to draw a far bigger crowd than any other previous events. The proximity of the “Goat farm” to Perth means that a far bigger turnout is possible.

There will be many local stores and food outlets present at the event and will be fully catered including the world famous “Little Caesar’s Pizzeria” from Mundaring. There will also be many local bike stores in attendance and Demo bikes available on the day.

How to Get There

Entry to the Goatfarm park is off Greenmount Rise, Greenmount. Greenmount rise is off Great Eastern Highway, 200m after Scott St on your right as you drive up the Highway. Parking is limited, so you may need to park along Coongan Av or Coulston Rd, which are off Scott St

Registration Options

We will be issuing special State Championship plates for this event (included in race fee). We will not be using the plates from the season. Plates can be collected on Saturday between 10am and 4pm or on the day from 8am to 11am.

All competitors who do not have an MTBA or UCI license will be required to purchase a day license at the event for $15. This is compulsory under MTBA guidelines as this provides competitors with insurance to race the event. All competitors who have a license will be required to present their card or receipt when picking up their number plate on the day, if you do not have proof of license you will have to purchase a day license.

This weekend we will be holding a Club Downhill at the Goat Farm on Greenmount Hill just out of Midland. Not sure what run we will be using but if your there on the day you will see. To get there head up Great Eastern Hwy and turn right into Greenmount Rise and follow the PDMBC signs. Be there for practise from 9am and racing will get under way at 11am you will need to push up unless we have a few 4X4’s that would like to help out. The State Champs will be run on the same hill so you can scope out the track and Paul Neves will probably be there working on the State Champs track so come along and help out if your not riding.

For U13’s and U15’s $20

U17’s and U19’s $25

Sport,Expert,Elite etc $35

If you are not already a Peel member bring $20 to join and if you are not a current MTBA licence holder you will need to pay a day licence of $15.

To start the weekend of triggaz and me headed down after work on Friday night sampling a few coopers and swannies on the way and a lovely feed of Chooks in Pinny and we were set for the night ahead, All the boys were already down at the Welli Mills Cottage getting things kick started for our arrival, they all went down early on friday and knocked out a few runs just to see what the track was all about. Chrisso gave us a call just to warn us about the Bridge that had collapsed on the entry road into the cottages and told us 100 times to go right just before it he was obviouslly all wooblerd up already. 2 and a half ours later and we pulled in to Brock launching a flare at us the thing was so bright it scared the shit out of us. Usual suspects where there Housey, Brockolli, Chrisso, Bellerina, Benny, Bergo and old man Nevesy and Baarspul and they were on their way nicely, so we unloaded the essentials and got stuck into some rehydrating.

We shut things down at around 2am after Bellerina and me went toe to toe Ultimate Fighter style and I got flogged big time after Bell tapped out so I let him go so Iam laying there and he decides its a good time to drive the heal into my thigh a good half a dozen times or so I was stunned that me old mate Bell would do such a thing to his old mate Draino but you just cant trust those dwelly folk so I limped of to bed and almost died.

Saturday night after praky we all washed up and headed of to the Dardy to watch the Dockers pull of another fluke, so we all loaded into Bergos Pimpin Tarago freshly painted in house paint black and decked out with a Phat sound system with neons all over the inside and two sunroofs with one of them big enough for 4 people to hang out of. The Steza in this thing makes your heart change beat and puts your back out but it pumps hard baby! On the way back from the Dardy we dropped into the pit area at the track and did a bog lap and found Damon running around with no shirt on at 10pm fuck knows what that was all about? spun us all out big time, we did notice that the shuttle bus had been parked up in a ditch and it looked well stuck! Anyway we bolted and went back to the cottages to get the bonfire happening so we could blow some shit up and set the rest of the flares of. Chrisso was back from seeing his kids and he had bummed a feed of Nevesys crew and was gooned up throwing his L.e.d frisby around. So we piled up the fire with wood blew up some deo cans and thew a flare at each other pretty standard stuff so most of us shut it down and went to bed easilly with the soothing sounds of the piss cutters throwing rocks onto the roof of the cottage.
