April 2008

Ok new race dates.

Club Race will now be the Sunday 18th of May.

Details for race up by end of week hopefully.

NEW STATE ROUND DATE IS SATURDAY 31ST OF MAY AND SUNDAY 1ST OF JUNE.

THIS IS REPLACING THE GERALDTON STATE ROUND.

Details up in a couple of weeks.

We do apoligize for any inconvience caused for people who may have to rebook accomadation, travel arrangements etc etc.

We decided as a committee it would be benifical to take the opportunity of moving the state round into the long weekend to help give a bit more time for organisation of the race and also it might help family’s a bit to save a few more dollar’s after Nannup.

Any queries please send to pdmbc08@yahoo.com.au

Due to unforeseen circumstances this race this weekend 4/5/2008 has had to be cancelled.

Please stay posted for possible race date changes over the next couple of days.

We do apoligize for any inconvience caused.

Paul Deklerk and his partner Kerry-Anne would like to thank all that help him get off the hill at nannup and into the ambo on the weekend.

Paul said he is currently on bedrest in hospital still, nursing a severly bruised left arse cheek possible broken wrist/hand and a torn muscle near his spine, the goood news is he can still walk and ride and with few weeks rnr now ahead of him should be good to go later in the season.

More Ko’s than an Ali fight that was the race at nannup this year. I heard rumours of around 140 riders and with some more altercations to an ageing track and those of who was there first race you will just have to listen to folklore of what use to be the double rock drop and three terraces. With a new look rock drop into somewhat rockish garden below and then a new line round the terraces made for what look to be a more of a open flow and forearm friendly course.

If you Hadn’t noticed there is a new look Dwelly crew on the rise in Andrew Simper, Mathew & Liam Birmingham. Simper was looking smooth on his new glory, Matt was ringing the neck of his mongoose, and Liam has put ol Slinky’s Keewee back into service and was looking smooth.

Local Junoir charger Jake Byrne was lookin super fast on his new midget size riegn and just keeps improving by the day. And Dad Dean has traded in his hardtail aswell for a new look glory1 and looks a much improved rider aswell. Choco Andrejeski was lookin good even after a saturday KO but needs to lift a little.

Paul Deklerk was on it saturday in practise but on the day of the race, first run decided to put in a bid for the Biejing Diving Team with a wild front flip into the rock garden. Judge’s Score Flip 10/10 Landing 7/10. He was then escorted of to bridgtown hospital for scans and i’ll guess we’ll get an injury report soon. All the best for a speedy recovery Paul.

Then there’s the Pride of Dwellingup Benny Bell, Mathew Bell, Andrew Laird, Mikee Burgess and new look import Mathew Triggaz Trigwell.

With the usaull big Saturday Night at local Nannup Hotel, and a set of well oiled kidneys the boys were ready for action. Leaving before knowing any real results the early running was ben v Deon Baker Matt v Sik Mik, the ploughman laird trying to find some of that ol hiway cup winning ways and triggaz just trying keep that nose in front of the burg on the verge of a surge.

Trackside laugh’s were had in the way of some of the finest sport drinking boys Downhill has to offer in Chooky Andrew’s, J Bain, Wooly and temporary ring in twinny. With more off beat commentary than Bruce Mcavany the boys were well oiled and had more can stik shakers than red dot would know what to do with.

Also a plug for the albany contingent which is getting bigger by the gig and most of the lads in the second season of racing with new toys, definatly looking alot more race hardened and faster.

Notable MIA’s….

Draino (where art thou)

Chrisso Austin (Couldn’t get Ms doubtfire in for the Kids)

Sprogglet (NKOTB no not the band)new kids on the block)

Millsy (broken fox 40’s)

Well thats all i got and results should be out within the week

  Cheers Housey

CHEERS Housey…….

Yeti brought out a few prototypes at Sea Otter this year that needless to say turned a few heads.

Yeti 303R-SS, one of three prototypes spotted at Sea Otter

303R-SS

Designed for aggressive trail riding, slopestyle, and gravity bent all-mountain. The rate on this bike has been designed to be stiffer so it holds the rider up in g-outs, berms, and really flowing terrain. The stiffer overall rate also makes it more difficult to bottom-out.

  • Travel: 5.4”
  • Projected Weight: 7.5 lbs (Fox DHX air)
  • Head Angle: 68 degrees (32 Float / 140) 66.3 degrees (36 Float / 160)
  • Chainstay: 16.5”
  • BB: 13”

303 R DH

A less expensive DH bike that uses a single pivot coupled with our 303 technology. By utilizing a horizontal linear rail we are able to create a rate similar to the 303 DH. The single pivot design has a different wheel path than the 303 DH but we were able to simplify the design and lighten up the frame significantly.

  • Travel: 8.5”
  • Projected Weight: 10 lbs
  • Head Angle: 64.5 – 65.5
  • Chainstay: 17.25”
  • Projected price: $2499
