 SAT PRACTISEÂÂ
Well with the usaull semi early start for saturday practise things were looking alright till about 9 oclock when the lights went off and the light show began. With most still willing to brave the conditions shuttles were running and so were the rivers down the hill. After the quick removal of a fallen pine on the track riders were getting muddier by the minute and so were the buses. The weather eased of a little in the arvo giving most the opportunity to have a few run’s in the mud minus the water. Just a couple of candidates decicied to come back to rego for a bailout of the event and go back home to the warm dry bed(Rosco). Out of curiosty i checked the Beareau for the rain gauge and you’ll all be happy to know you can ride in a day of 64.2mm of rain in 8 hour period.
RACE DAYÂÂ
Well with a few punter’s after revenge from nannup it was on, on a trying muddy track.
Elite: Always hard takin on Ben Bell on his home turf was the challenge for the Kalamunda Kid Deon Baker, Hank Kinnunen, The Bitch Andrew’s, Fresh back from touring J Bain Plus a few others. All looking Solid and wild in saturdays rain it was on for day and it turn out to be Ben Bell over the Kalamunda Kid followed By Hank, J Bain , The Bitch and back in 6th on home turf Matt (a few dress sizes bigger will lose you those vital seconds)Bell.
Elite Women: Kerrie being made to work for her times this year through young pinner Holly Baarspul over Natasha Williams.ÂÂ
Expert: With local Jigalo Mikkee Burgess all over it nannup i thought a home town win assured, not be back 5th spot. We saw J Pitchers 1st, David McCallum then R Grapes.
Masters Men: Never thought i would see the day. National series Champ Shane Hadley second spot 1st going to Dean Bryne, Nevesy 3rd Brookesy 4th. Dean the ever improver, but just ask these boys and everyone’s a winner in masters men
Junoir’s: Could go all day about some these upcoming pinners but was awesome to see the winners in U15,U17,U19 all taking there grades by 6 sec’s in trying conditions. For me the most notable is a young kid in u17′s called Talyor Young, goes as hard as anyone out there and with a winning time of 2.13.24 would see him sit mid pack of elite right behind some super quick riders. Great to see Will Gower on the hill keeping hans hadley on his toes.
