Ding, Ding, 4x round 3 Yee Haa

Round 3 of the 4x series is upon us already.

Hope you are all fired up for another weekend of fast and furious racing.
The track has had just a few subtle tweaks and a whole new finish, slightly longer and with more jumps.
Don’t forget those that step up to Elite have a chance at not just the glory but to take home the coveted Pingelly 4x Trophy.

The format will be much the same as last time as described below, but if some people want to check out the much talked about Pingelly Dirt jumps before practice starts let me know and I will post the info. Its about 25 minutes from the 4x track right in Pingelly itself.

The big difference this time is that due to full booking of the dormitories, Tent Camping only is available and will be trackside with a big Bonfire to keep warm( so dont forget your marsh mellows). You will need a tent and your warmest sleeping gear but there will be No Charge for camping.
Gas BBQ provided.

So here’s the go

Saturday 8th August, 1-5pm Practice
As with last time the track will be open to those who have registered for practice to get well acquainted with the course. Rego available on Saturday.

*COLD TEMP WARNING* The Race track is just down the road from Wandering which consistently has the lowest overnight temperatures in WA. Please bring your warm gear for sleeping.

First of all a Massive thanks to all the hard working volunteers of the weekend, some of you guys and gals have been long standing volunteers and your support is hugely appreciated by the club.

Many thanks to our sponsers from the weekend especially Malaga Cycles, Mandurahs Bikeman and The Dwellingup Community Hotel, long time supporters and contributers to the Peel State Round each year. Thanks also to Rockingham Cycle City and Little Creatures Brewery for thier support also this year.

Well to the weekends action now and the first Big part of the weekends agenda was the long awaited return of a mtb movie premiere to the state of Western Australia. Many thanks go out the Kerry at the The Dwellingup Community Hotel and Josh Stephensen from Black Pheonix Films for allowing this happen.

With the premiere kicking of around 8:30pm, and about 40+ avid Downhillers in attendence they were either well oiled or well fed by go time. Pics Below.

Well to Sundays racing and the conditions that greeted the riders was very un dwellingup like, Fine Sunshine 20 degree warmth and barely a cloud in the sky. This weather was truly a blessing to all the guys that had put in about 6 weeks of solid trail work to get the old used and abused Tom’s step down trail back into working order for the state race. Thankyou to club members Mike Tailor, Rex Dubois, Dean & Jake Byne, Paul & Son De Klerk, Bec Barton, Liam Birmingham and Andrew Simper for the great efforts in put into the trail.

Come race time conditions were near perfect and plenty of riders still opted for a wide variety of tyres choices in the awesome track conditions.

Elite Men saw one of the biggest dwellingup upsets in living memory, not only did local favourite and 2008 State Series Champion Ben Bell not win, but was eluded by the podium aswell via some of the closest racing times ever seen with the top 4 elite men seperated by 1.3 seconds. In the end it was the Kalamunda Kid Deon Baker with a blistering hot 1.55.84 hotly followed by Glen Forrests Stuart Mcdonald +0.12 seconds behind and the pride of Boddington Ryan Andrews rounding out the podium at +0.46 secs behind the winner.

Elite Womens saw the recently selected Junior Worlds Australian Team Rider Holly Baarspul take a convincing win with a time of 2.41.52 follow by Anne-lie Adielsson +44.91 into second position. Good Luck in Canberra Holly.
